Spare a thought for the children in cold places

Dear Editor,

I would like to let the school authority know that Ziro is situated above 5000 ft. above MSL which gets too cold during the months of December and January and the hottest month being July and August when temperature remain to maximum 27° to 28°celsius. During the winter months particularly in the month of December and January when temperature goes down to 0° Celsius it becomes really a torturing cold to the young children due to which the school authority may not be able to give motherly warmth to the children and have to send back the children to their respective parents so that the chill cold of winter may not trouble them. And so during the summer being quite conducive in such places for the children for their studies and other co-curricular activities etc. in the school and moreover the authority can also give attention for their overall growth.

Therefore it seems that forcing the private school authority to introduce summer vacation and no to winter vacation is quite illogic. I being one of the parents of school children of such cold place would like to suggest to change the idea for introduction of new academic calendar and hoped that good sense prevail to the concern authority.

There are lot of things for the school authority to do for general well being of the young students such as forcing the school authority to create facilities for games and sports, compulsory playground in all the school campus, inspection and supervision of private schools in regards to their system of education, school fee, tuition fee and other fees overseeing whether these are genuine. They also need to oversee the health and hygienic condition of the school with small dispensary / First Aid system etc. Rules of the school authority framed either by the Central Govt. or the State Govt. in concern nodal department is conceived keeping in view the general well being of the children. In a very hot arid climatic zone like Delhi and many parts of Rajasthan etc. the timing of the classes are being changed according to the climatic condition. In view of the resistance capacity of the children to either extreme hot or cold climate, certain changes in school vacation are also being modified according to the climatic condition.

We understand that the private school authority should always keep pace with the growing competition of the school including Govt. schools and in no way their examination be disturbed by one whimsical decision. Everything of the school rules and regulation should be made for the well being of the student. Therefore, the school authority of Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh should ponder over this, and children should not be forced to remain in their school during the winter months particularly during the months of December and January when the temperature goes down to 0° Celsius in cold places of Arunachal Pradesh like Tawang, Bomdila, Anini, Mechuka, Ziro.

Yours,

Tage Tada (on email)
